“Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law.” Proverbs 29,18 (NKJV) |
As people, we have dreams for our lives, wishes and aspirations which we hope will bring joy, happiness and fulfillment in our lives. God too has dreams!
God said to the prophet Jeremiah: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1,5 NIV).
This is true for each one of us: God knew us before we were formed in our mothers' wombs and He had plans and appointments before we were born.
As much as we may have never thought about it and lived our lives far from this truth, God does not change His mind concerning us. “For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable” (Romans 11,29). God desires that we come to the realization that He is the one who made us and that He made us for Himself.
“For the Lord has chosen Jacob to be his own, Israel to be his treasured possession.” (Psalm 135,4 NIV)
“The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.” Psalm 25,9 (KJV) |
It takes humility and meekness to start the journey of discovering the God-dream.
It begins with surrendering our own way of thinking, setting our affections on the Lord Jesus so we can embrace His point of view.
However, this discovery is often not 'straight to the point'.
As we see it in how God created the earth, God begins with a framework. He created light, made a separation between the waters, gathered the waters under the heavens and called them Seas and, finally, created living creatures in these waters. In other words, before God created the fish, He created the environment in which the fish will live in.
Similarly, it is God’s intention that man first understand the environment in which they are meant to be and find expression. This is the wisdom of God.
In God’s order of things (priority), wisdom comes before knowledge.
“Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” (Proverbs 4,7)
Wisdom is the beginning. Wisdom is the primary thing.
By wisdom, we begin to understand and know what matters most; what is valuable, what is true, what is eternal.
“My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways.” Proverbs 23,26 (NKJV)
When our hearts are yielded to God, we become malleable and begin to feel after Him. This is the work of the Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit communicates to us to the point where we know what the Father wants, what pleases Him, what grieves Him. And it is with such impressions that the reality of a ‘calling’ is conceived. Here, life is no longer about self but about God, His interests, His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Beloved of God, it is your responsibility to avail yourself, for the purpose of knowing God’s dream for your life and furthermore for the sake of being prepared for that God-given assignment.
“The Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and wise steward [of the estate], whom his master will put in charge over his household, to give his servants their portion of food at the proper time? Blessed (happy, prosperous, to be admired) is that servant whom his master finds so doing when he arrives. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My master is taking his time in coming,’ and begins to beat the servants, both men and women, and to eat and drink and get drunk, the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him in pieces, and assign him a place with the unbelievers. And that servant who knew his master’s will, and yet did not get ready or act in accord with his will, will be beaten with many lashes [of the whip], but the one who did not know it and did things worthy of a beating, will receive only a few [lashes].” Luke 12, 42-47 (AMP) |
