“Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.” Matthew 5,8 (NKJV)

The word 'pure' in the Bible refers to the state of being free from contamination, free from corruption.

Pure means undefiled.

In Mark 7,1-23, we read the story of how the pharisees and some scribes reproached Jesus’ disciples for eating bread with “impure” hands. But Jesus explained to the people saying: “Listen [carefully] to Me, all of you, [hear] and understand [what I am saying]: there is nothing outside a man [such as food] which by going into him can defile him [morally or spiritually]; but the things which come out of [the heart of] a man are what defile and dishonor him.” (Verse 14-15 AMP)

Jesus goes further to say: For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.  All these evil things come from within and defile a man.” (Verse 21-23 NKJV)

Being born again, God imputes righteousness to the believer because of Jesus Christ and His sacrifice at the cross. The believer is called righteous because of faith, like father Abraham.

"For the Scriptures tell us, “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.”

When people work, their wages are not a gift, but something they have earned. But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners." Romans 4,3-5 (NLT)

In addition, this nature of righteousness was given to the believer so that they walk in righteousness.

Doing what is right is the “seal” of the righteousness received.

From the scriptures above, we see that evil things defile a man and thus hinder the man from seeing God.

God is always present, always speaking, always wanting to reveal Himself, always willing to help. But, the state of our heart will determine how able we are to perceive it.

Since it starts from within, it is also resolve from within. This purity does not mean the man will be perfect in all their actions. But the pure in heart rejects evil in their heart.

God sees the willingness to do His will and rewards that. He gives this wonderful promise in Romans 6,14:

“For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”

Even if a particular sin is still an issue or it’s even called an “addiction”, begin to see yourself free from it because you can live without it! Because of His grace!

When a man’s heart is pure, they see God. They will know God’s presence, they will feel after Him.

Purity = no hindrance

“The God Who produced and formed the world and all things in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in handmade shrines.

Neither is He served by human hands, as though He lacked anything, for it is He Himself Who gives life and breath and all things to all [people].

And He made from one [common origin, one source, one blood] all nations of men to settle on the face of the earth, having definitely determined [their] allotted periods of time and the fixed boundaries of their habitation (their settlements, lands, and abodes),

So that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel after Him and find Him, although He is not far from each one of us.” Acts 17,24-27 (AMPC)
