"One thing is needed"

These were the words of Jesus to Martha who had welcomed Him to her house. She was busy serving while her sister Mary sat at Jesus’ feet, listening to His word.

“And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10,41-42 (NKJV)

The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6,23)

As much as a gift can be given, it must be received. Or else, to the giver’s grievance, it will be wasted.

God has extended to us a gift; our part is to receive it.

One thing is needed: it is to receive the gift of God; the gift of salvation

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3,16 (NKJV)

We receive this gift by believing in Jesus.

There’s a difference between believing Jesus and believing IN Jesus. “Believing Jesus” is very shallow; it’s like believing Napoleon won many battles in Europe. But believing in Jesus implies an offering of one self to Him.

Romans 10,9 says: “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

It’s a life changing decision. But a change that Jesus Himself will make in your life!

If you would like that, please pray this prayer out loud with your whole heart:

"Lord Jesus, today I give you my life and I give you my heart.

I believe you died for me on the cross and you were raised so that I can have your life.

I declare this day that you are my Lord and my Savior." Amen
