There is a reward

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3,23-24(NKJV) |
The Bible shows us that there will be rewards in heaven at the end of times but also that rewards are given even here on earth by God. According to the Scriptures, a reward is a prize for what has been done. (Revelation 22,12).
As believers in Jesus Christ, our motivation in our 'works' is not to get something from God as though we should earn it. Jesus Christ has already moved God by His sacrifice on the cross for us to be given everything we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1,3).
We work because we believe Jesus died and resurrected, because He has given us a new and abundant life: eternal life. Our works are acts of faith as an agreement to His Word.
We work because we love Him.
We work by obedience to His commands.
We work because we feel the responsibility to do so as children of God.
And yet, it's His grace that enables us still. It is by His strength and might. It is by His Holy Spirit.
“For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward.” 2 John 1,7-8 (NKJV) |
To say that Jesus Christ did not come in the flesh is to say He did not die on the cross. It is to say He did not sacrifice His life and shed His blood. And yet, this is the pivotal point of salvation.
This deception, that is against the Christ, against the anointing, wants to seduce the believer into thinking: ‘Why sacrifice?’ ‘Why do you have to do all this?’ ‘Do you have to do all that?’ ‘Do you have to give up your life like that?’ However, Jesus says: “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.” (Luke 14,26-27 NKJV)
But that's not the end of the story! One minister of the Gospel said: “God doesn’t SAY thank you, He rewards”. In other words, God’s thank you is a reward.
“But you are those who have continued with Me in My trials. And I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me, that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” (Luke 22,28-30 NKJV). Those were the words of Jesus to the apostles.
He gave them power and authority.
It is the same for all believers, God grants power and authority in different forms and aspects.
God rewards faithfulness: “His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’” (Matthew 25,23 NKJV).
God rewards those who diligently seek Him; He makes Himself known. (Hebrews 11,6)
Child of God, a reward awaits you here on earth and in heaven.
“Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” Psalms 127,3 (KJV) |
