One with Jesus

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” John 14,12-14(NKJV)

“I am not Jesus”. “I am just human”. You must have heard such phrases.

However, for the believer in Jesus Christ, such statements are self-opposing!

Such statements are usually made either in ignorance or in an attempt to excuse shortcomings.

In fact, in some instances, such statements are demonically inspired IN ORDER TO INHIBIT THE POWER OF GOD TO WORK THROUGH THE BELIEVER.

There is no need to justify human weaknesses. The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 7,18-19(NLT): “And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway.”

The sinful nature, also called “the flesh” in New Testament terminology, is incapable of doing good. Its works are evil and wicked (Galatians 5,19). So, it’s no surprise that a human being will not be perfect AS a human being. And God is not surprised.

Furthermore, Psalms 103,13-14 (NKJV) says: “As a father pities his children, So the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.” Sin was such a problem that it took Jesus, God Himself, to come on earth to cure it. He, graciously, gave His righteousness to those who believe in Him so they can live righteous.

Heaven on earth

The death and resurrection of Jesus marked a new era. The era of sons of God. A new birth was made possible through faith in Jesus Christ. This new birth is the birth of God’s nature in a human being. The birth of God’s own life in a human being. The Spirit of God coming to dwell on the inside of the believer.

If Jesus is the Lord of your life, you are not just human, you are a child of God. You are not Jesus but you are one with Him. You are in Christ and Christ is in You. His Spirit lives in you.

“For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Romans 8,29 (NKJV)

John, the apostle, who wrote the book (gospel) of John portrayed Jesus as the Son of God. Jesus modeled for us what being a son of God looks like. “Son” in the Bible is not gender based, it is any believer that has MATURED in their identity of being a child of God.

God, the Father, wants His children to be conformed to the image of His Son Jesus.

You can be the exact representation of Jesus here on earth because God has given you His Spirit for that to be possible. The same way He is not surprised by human weakness is the same way He does not expect His children to be like Jesus without the Holy Spirit. He said: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ (Zechariah 4,6). It is by the Holy Spirit.
