“But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place. Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, And I have loved you; Therefore I will give men for you, And people for your life.” Isaiah 43,1-4 (NKJV) |
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” Those are Jesus' words (John 16,33 NKJV).
It’s a fact; trials and tests will come our way. To be aware of this helps us not to be surprised, shocked, frightened or disappointed. It helps us avoid dwelling in anger, self-pity and never to lose hope. The Apostle Peter wrote: “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.” (1Peter 4,12 ESV)
“The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.” Psalms 121, 5-8 (NKJV) |
We have these great and precious affirmations from God (Isaiah 43,1-4) and so many others to guard our hearts and minds. Jesus wants us to live in peace in the midst of the storm.
“But how can I do that? Have peace in the storm?”, one may ask.
It starts with believing it is possible.
You can have peace because you know the outcome: Jesus has already won and he has made you a winner. “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.” (2 Corinthians 2,14 KJV). You can have peace because Jesus is with you through it all. He will never leave you. He will never forsake you.
Hold on to these truths and refuse to consider any other voice contrary.
Give thanks each new day because His mercies are new every morning, his compassion fails not and great is His faithfulness.
“Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.” Romans 15,4 (NLT) |
“The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him” Nahum 1,7 (NIV) |
